Ten Signs That Your Personal Problems Are Taking Over Your Novel
1. Anyone in the novel who lies to, cheats on, divorces, or is prettier/skinnier/more popular than your protagonist dies a horrific and pointless death.
Who hasn’t felt the desire to kill off or maim someone you are angry with in the safety of your novel? You can do it, so long as you bury that agenda deep.

Being a hardboiled type of writer, during a particularly hard break-up, I wrote of a woman strapped to the back a Porche, shot in the head, naked from the waist down, with a fish stuffed…uh, well. Yeah, you gotta love being a writer. ; )

ROFL, R.J.! Yep, the beauty of being a writer.
I absolutely love the movie “Something’s Gotta Give” where Diane Keaton writes a hit play about her affair with Jack Nicholson and makes him into an even bigger ass than he was to begin with. As I tell my husband, never f*ck with a writer.

I do enjoy killing off people via novels.
Sometimes I even enjoy killing of the characters for themselves, when I’ve been at it too long. At least a dozen times over the course of my 2nd I tied my hero and heroine up in barbed wire and dragged them off a cliff just so it would be OVER. 
And yeah, you read that one, without the death scenes.

No, I’m sure I’d have remembered those death scenes had a read them. 
I do, however, remember Hawk. *sigh*
